Synopsis The teen Clareece Precious Jones is an African American girl of 16 who lives in New York City. His life is no bed of roses, starting with who is being abused and humiliated by his mother, suffers from a very overweight, illiteracy, and ending with the responsibilities they have a child with Down syndrome, resulting from a violation by his own father. Faced with such bleak picture Clareece retreats into his dreams of glory and fame. Claireece “Precious” Jones is 16 years old, obese, illiterate and expecting her second child of his own absent father. He lives in Harlem, the kingdom of the invisible, of the voiceless, his mother, a cruel recluse who watches television constantly and subjected to the most humiliating abuse.
